Hello, I am a 40 year old female who is extremely active in hockey and softball. Injured my right knee 2 years ago and had a scope in July 2014 for medial meniscus tear. Since then I have been having continuous pain and swelling. MRI in October said: Significant focal 9mm area of hyaline cartilage thinning at the posteromedial weightbearing surface of the medial femoral condyle with prominent subchondral cyst formation and bone marrow edema. I was not able to play hockey this winter due to the pain and swelling. My question is: what would the treatments be to get myself back to playing the sports I have played my whole life and enjoy??
1.The meniscus has to be repaired - the only treatment in this case, as it can not be treated with the medications. 2.Cartilage thinning are the secondary changes after traumatic history. 3.It also need rest for a significant time like 6 months for things to settle down. 4. The cyst and bone marrow changes are - post traumatic cause with inflammatory cause. 5. Recommended rest with repair - intervention procedure.
Good luck. Hope i have answered your query, any thing to ask ? do not hesitate to ask. http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-ganesh/62888
